Chevelle in Charlotte

I went to Charlotte, NC with my friend Byron to see Chevelle.  They were great, but not in the league with the concerts I've seen from Tool, NIN, and Muse.

It was sad to see them opening for a newer band(Shinedown).  Am I getting old?  NIN stopped touring, Tool only plays a couple shows, and Chevelle is opening for new bands.  It seems most of my favorite bands are retiring or barely playing anymore.

  1. We actually skipped shinedown. 10 years and chevelle were both good, seven dust and puddle of mudd were a little painful though.

  2. Okay, so here's Sevendust, they come out on stage, lead singer: "WE ARE SEVENDUST! WE ARE SEVENDUST! SEVENDUST IS HERE! WE ARE AWESOME!" Then they do a song that is so loud the sound system can't handle it, and it all just sort of mixes together in a cacaphony of noise, in a bad way. Then, that song is over, the lead singer comes forward "WE ARE SEVENDUST! WE ARE AWESOME! GIVE IT UP FOR SEVENDUST! ALSO... GIVE IT UP FOR MONSTER ENERGY DRINK!" he holds up a can of Monster Energy Drink (tm) "MONSTER ENERGY DRINK!" They sing another terrible song. Then more "WE ARE SEVENDUST! EVERY SAY 'SEVENDUST HAS ARRIVED! SEVENDUST HAS ARRIVED! SEVENDUST HAS ARRIVED!' EVERYONE START GOING IN A CIRCLE! FORM A MOSH PIT" No one responds. I felt both insulted and disgusted by their performance. Chevelle was quite the opposite, most of their time was spent playing, with the occasional "Thank you for coming, we really appreciate you". And at the end the lead singer tried to give his guitar to someone in the General Admission section, but for some reason security snagged it afterwards, which made me sad.

Chevelle was great though, I enjoyed it quite much. I wish I hadn't forgotten something in the car and we could have caught the first 10 years song, they were pretty decent. Puddle of Mudd, as you said, sounded like "Redneck Rock".

30$ for the concert though was extremely reasonable. That's quite the deal for 5 bands, if only I liked more than 2 of them. Still, it was worth it for those two.
